Privacy Policy
Last updated: 25 April 2026
Carit ("the App") is operated by Atelier Barnard SL ("we", "us", "our"), a company registered in Spain. This policy explains what data the App and the Carit website (getcarit.com) collect, why, and how we protect it.
1. Data Collected by the App
Carit is designed to work without user accounts. You do not need to sign up or provide personal information to use the App. We keep data collection to an absolute minimum.
Data stored on your device only (never transmitted):
- App preferences: your settings such as preferred ring size system, units, currency, temperature scale, and supplier/caster premiums are stored locally on your device using AsyncStorage. This data never leaves your device.
- Quotes and calculations: any stone counts, quote line items, and calculation results are stored locally on your device and never transmitted.
Data transmitted to third-party services:
- Anonymous usage analytics: we use PostHog (EU-hosted, based in Frankfurt) to track which screens you visit and which calculators you use, so we can understand which features are most useful and prioritise improvements. PostHog generates an anonymous device identifier. No name, email, contact details, or advertising identifiers are collected. If you delete the App the anonymous identifier is lost and no further events are sent. See PostHog's privacy policy for details.
- Anonymous crash reporting: we use Sentry to collect crash logs and error reports so we can fix bugs. Sentry receives the crash stack trace, device model, OS version, and app version. No personal data is included in crash reports. See Sentry's privacy policy for details.
- Subscription and purchase data: if you purchase a subscription, payment is handled by Apple (App Store) or Google (Play Store). We use RevenueCat to manage subscription status. RevenueCat receives an anonymous user identifier, your purchase history, device model, OS version, and app version. RevenueCat does not receive your name, email, or payment card details. See RevenueCat's privacy policy for details.
- Metal prices and exchange rates: the App fetches live precious metal prices from gold-api.com and currency exchange rates from open.er-api.com. These are read-only requests. No personal data is sent, but your device's IP address is visible to these services as part of the standard internet connection, as it is with any website or app you use.
2. Data Collected by the Website
The Carit website (getcarit.com) does not collect personal data from visitors. The site is informational only. Outbound links to the Apple App Store are governed by Apple's privacy policy once you arrive on their platform. If you choose to email us at [email protected], we use your message and email address solely to respond to your enquiry.
3. What We Don't Collect
- We do not require or collect your name, phone number, or physical address.
- We do not track your location.
- We do not collect device advertising identifiers (IDFA or Android Advertising ID).
- We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties for advertising.
- We do not use your data for AI training or profiling.
- We do not serve ads in the App.
4. Third-Party Services
The App and website use the following third-party services:
- Apple App Store / Google Play Store: for app distribution and subscription payments.
- RevenueCat: for subscription status management. Receives anonymous identifiers, purchase history, and basic device information.
- PostHog: for anonymous product analytics. Hosted on EU servers (Frankfurt). Receives anonymous device identifier, screen views, and calculator usage events. No name, email, or advertising identifiers.
- Sentry: for anonymous crash reporting. Receives crash stack traces, device model, OS version, and app version. No personal data.
- gold-api.com: for live precious metal spot prices. No personal data sent.
- open.er-api.com: for currency exchange rates. No personal data sent.
5. Data Retention
All App data (preferences, calculations, usage patterns) is stored on your device. If you delete the App, this data is deleted with it.
Anonymous analytics events sent to PostHog and crash reports sent to Sentry are retained according to those providers' standard retention windows. You can request deletion of any data tied to your RevenueCat App User ID, PostHog distinct ID, or Sentry records at any time. See our Data Deletion Request page for the exact process and what to include in your email.
6. Your Rights (GDPR)
If you are in the European Economic Area, you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Request correction of inaccurate data.
- Request deletion of your data.
- Withdraw consent for email communications at any time.
- Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at [email protected].
7. Children's Privacy
Carit is a professional tool intended for adult jewellers. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
